The following subsections describe miscellaneous supplies stocked by Dixie Neon and used in the design, manufacture and installation of neon signs. Non-stock items can be special ordered.

Blow Hose

The following two sizes of latex rubber blow hose are sold by the foot:

1)     1/4" OD x 1/8" ID x 1/16" wall
2)     3/16" OD x 1/8" ID x 1/32" wall

Brass Electrode Caps and Buttons

Brass electrode caps and buttons provide breakage protection and electrical conducting surfaces for electrodes when placed inside housings. Short brass caps are 5/8" long and available in 12 and 15 mm sizes. Long brass caps are 1" long and available in 15 mm.Electrode buttons (penny caps) are intended for use on 12, 13 and 15 mm electrodes. All the above items have two holes for insertion of the electrode leads.Brass caps and electrode buttons are sold 1000 per box.

Bushings

Eagle #28 plastic and #77 rubber bushings protect GTO cable passing though metal barriers such as transformer boxes, raceways, etc. They are sold 50 per box.

Federal Bushings are made of glazed porcelain and have a 1/2" NPT thread and locknut. They are used to pass GTO cable through raceway barriers and are sold in boxes of 100. We stock both Westrim and Transco white bushings and can special order black from Transco.

Cable Supports

High grade porcelain cable supports are adaptable for wood screw or machine screw mounting. GTO cable is supported in a recessed area at the top of the support or inserted through an oversized hole just below this. Cable supports are sold individually or 100 per box.

Carbon Paper

Carbon paper is available in red 36" x 25 yard rolls.

Clip-Its

Clip-its are high quality brass terminals which crimp onto GTO wire. They are sold 1000 per box.

Corks

Corks are available in 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15 mm sizes and are sold 50 per bag.

Diffusion Pump Oil

Diffusion pump oil for use in glass diffusion pumps is sold in 50 cc bottles

Electrode Holders

EGL electrode holders contain spring loaded metal prongs which fit all size electrodes.

Glass Files

High quality 6" and 8" bastard cut warding files are ideal for cutting glass tubes. These files are double cut on the sides and single cut on the edges.

Neon Hand Blocks

Neon hand blocks are used by neon benders to flatten neon tube bends. They are made from a blend of calcium silicate and inert fibers and can withstand 1400°f.The blocks are 3" x 7.5" x 1" in size.

Hand Torches and Tips

Three sizes of EGL hand torches are available. The #l torch (largest) is for splicing, the #2 torch is for combinations splicing/tipping and the #3 torch is for tipping.The #1 torch is supplied with 81-N (natural/methane gas) or 81-A (artificial/propane gas) brass fishtail burner tips.The #2 and #3 torches are supplied with the smaller 228-N or 228-A tips.All EGL hand torches include a convenient wooden handle.Extra burner tips can be purchased separately.

The Voltarc #500T tipping torch comes with integral round burner tips. Its light weight and balanced design make it ideal for tipping applications.

Mercury

Chemically pure triple distilled mercury is available in .9 lb. poly-covered glass bottles.

Mica

Mica is used as an insulating material between electrodes and glass tubing. Mica pieces are sold by the ounce.

Neon Pattern Material

Westrim's Nonbestos and Transco's Transbestos III are both high temperature coated fiberglass materials for neon patterns. The material is sold in white 38" x 25 yd. rolls. They mark well with carbon papers and pen inks, and can be used on friction feed plotters with all new computer neon layout programs.

Pattern Paper

Westrim pattern/drawing paper is brown and is textured to prevent slipping. It is available in 48" x 300 ft rolls.

Kraft Paper

70 # 38214 is available in 48" x 330' rolls
70 # 38215 is available in 24" x 330' rolls
50 # 38220 is available in 54" x 330' rolls
50 # 38227 is available in 60" x 330' rolls

Barrows pattern paper is brown with a grid of one inch red squares for laying out neon or other sign designs. It is sold in 49" x 40 lb.; 330' rolls.

Polycarbonate Tubes

Polycarbonate tubes are used to protect neon (primarily in motorized vehicle installations). They are available in 3/4"  x 8' lengths.

Ross Adaptors

Duraglo's Ross Adaptors (Electrode Savers) are brass hoods with a built-in non-corrosive contact cushions. They are used to repair electrodeswith lead wires broken off. Ross adaptors are installed in the field and prevent costs associated with repumping neon tubes. They are available in 15 mm and are sold individually.

Stopcocks

EGL'slead glass stopcocks are the industry standard used in neon shops throughout the United States. They are available in 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mm sizes.

Stopcock Grease

Dow Corning high vacuum grease is a silicone lubricant for glass stopcocks, joints and glass-rubber connections.It is sold in 5.3 oz. tubes.

Swivels and Connectors

EGL'S 3/16" 90 degree brass swivels are available as single or double swivels.

Tie Wire

Copper tie wire for attaching neon glass to tube supports is available in 1 lb. and 5 lb. spools. Tinned tie wire, for additional corrosion resistance, is also available in 1 lb. spools.

Torch Hose

The following two sizes of latex rubber torch hose are sold by the foot:

1)     7/16" OD x 3/16" ID x 1/8" wall

2)     3/8" OD x 1/4" ID x 1/l6" wall

Transformer Boxes

Transco's 18TB-TPO transformer box  is UL 879 compliant for dry, damp and wet applications. It measures 7" x 7" by 18" and accommodates transformers as large as a typical 15,000 Volt/60 mA. They are sold individually or by the case of a dozen.

Westrim's top off model transformer boxes are made from electrogalvanized sheet steel. They include a removable top and louvers and knockouts on both ends. They are 7" x 18" x 7" in size and will accommodate transformers as large as a typical 15,000 Volt/60MA outdoor style. They are sold individually or by the case of a dozen.

Innovative Sign Solutions (ISS) Split Transformer Box

The ISS Split Transformer Box ends installation headaches and "knuckle pain" by giving the installer total access to the wiring.

Vacuum Hose

Vacuum hose is thick walled flexible tubing used to connect vacuum pumps to manifolds. Its size is 1-5/8" ID x 1/2" wall and is sold by the foot.

Vacuum Pump Oil

Hyvac's #93050 Vacuum Pump Oil is especially suitable for use on most high vacuum pumps due to its low vapor pressure and other unique characteristics. It is sold by the gallon.

Robinair's #13204 Premium High Vacuum Pump Oil is specially formulated to improve cold start performance of most high vacuum pumps. It is chemically engineered to maintain viscosity at high running temperatures. It is sold by the gallon.

Vacuum Pump Flushing Oil

Hyvac's #93060 Vacuum Pump Flushing Oil is a specially designed cleaning oil which helps flush all mechanical vacuum pumps of sediment and contaminates such as water and solvents. It is sold by the quart.
